2026 Second Place Videographer of the Year

This spring, this portfolio placed second in the state of Iowa for IHSPA Videographer of the Year. The submissions include both long-form and short-form videos that cover school and local news using the school's video equipment, various editing software, and self-made graphics.

I was inspired to cover Iowa City's Farmer's Market after going there a couple times over the summer and seeing the community connect over local businesses and fresh food, whether it is produce or innovative snacks. I filmed, interviewed, edited, and wrote the story myself. After publishing, it won a Best of SNO award.

Taking inspiration from short-form videos I'd seen, I wanted to place a hot mic and a camera in the hallway with a question that anyone from our student body could answer to be featured. After settling on the Valentine's Day-themed question "What is something or someone you love?" photographer Emily Rabe and I filmed a video that I then edited and posted on the wsspaper Instagram.

When the Student Government presidential candidates were announced, I noticed a lack of transparency about the process of the election and the candidates' campaigns. To bring some clarity to both, I filmed a light-hearted debate with a majority of the candidates with Video Editor Sophie Bergman, and then I edited the video to publish before the election. With the help of the previous Copy Editor, Vera Tanas, we also published live updates about the election and its results.
